The Stream and the Stone

Today's Word of Wonder: Endurance
The Scripture Spotlight for Today
"Who dares despise the day of small things, since the seven-eyes of the Lord that range throughout the earth rejoice when they see the chosen capstone in the hand of Zerubbabel?"
— Zechariah 4:10 (NIV)
The Devotion: The Art of Showing Up
If you watch a stream flowing over a rock, nothing seems to happen in a single minute. The water is soft; the stone is hard. But if you come back in ten years, the stone is changed. The water didn't win because it was stronger; it won because it was Consistent.
In our spiritual lives, we often "despise the day of small things." We think our five-minute devotion or our quick "thank you" to God doesn't count for much. But Endurance is the "Heart-Work" of showing up.
The WOW Moment today is realizing that God "rejoices" in your small starts.
He isn't waiting for you to be a theological giant; He is looking for a branch that simply remains in the Vine. Consistency isn't about being perfect; it's about being present. When we show up to the "ordinary" moments of our faith day after day, we are slowly carving a new path in our souls. We are training our hearts to find Him in the mundane. Today, don't worry about doing something "big"—just focus on being consistent in the small.
Wonder Prompt (Actionable Reflection)
Think of one small spiritual habit you’ve been "meaning" to do.
- Action: Do it right now. Don't wait for the "perfect time." Just give it two minutes.
- Shift: Notice how the pressure to be "extraordinary" disappears when you realize God is already rejoicing in your "ordinary" consistency.
- Prayer: "Lord, thank You for the 'day of small things.' Help me to be consistent in my love for You. Even when I don't feel like a giant, help me to be a steady stream that keeps coming back to Your presence. Amen."
