The Expectant Heart

Today's Word of Wonder: Expectancy
The Scripture for Today
"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."
— Romans 15:13 (NIV)
The Devotion: Beyond the Horizon
In navigation, a "Hope Horizon" is the point where the sea meets the sky. Even when the storm is tossing the ship, the navigator knows that as long as they stay pointed toward the horizon, they are moving toward the light.
The WOW Moment today is realizing that hope is something you overflow with, not something you manufacture.
When we do the "Heart-Work" of trusting God, hope is the natural byproduct. It’s like a cup being held under a running faucet—eventually, it can't help but spill over. Hope is the spiritual Expectancy that says: "I don't know what tomorrow holds, but I know Who holds tomorrow." Today, your "Being" in Christ is fueled by the realization that your story doesn't end in the "Heart-Work" of the dark; it ends in the light of His glory.
Wonder Prompt (Actionable Reflection)
Today, practice "The Hope Horizon."
- Action: Look out a window or step outside. Find the furthest point you can see. As you look at it, name one area of your life where you need God’s light. Say: "Lord, I place my hope in You for this. I expect You to move."
- Shift: Notice how the "weight" of that situation shifts from your shoulders to His when you choose expectancy over anxiety.
- Prayer: "God of Hope, fill me with joy and peace today as I trust in You. Let my heart overflow with hope by the power of Your Spirit. Thank You for being the anchor of my soul. Amen."
